Wardrobe Essentials: The Basics

Basics are the bones of your wardrobe.

Previously we discussed Wardrobe Essentials: Top 10. This list was composed to give a quick breakdown of 10 Essential items every closet should own.

Basics are those classic pieces in your wardrobe upon which you will build. These pieces transcend time, travel and trends.

Essential items that layered upon or mixed together will evolve your wardrobe into a stylish collection involving interest and your personality.

These basics provide you the ability to launch drama into your wardrobe by adding to them with statement pieces.

  1. Black Trousers
  2. White Button Shirt
  3. White Tee & Black Tee
  4. Longer Length Tanks (white, black & neutral)

They can go from day to night, season to season and can be worn 5 to 10 years from now. The key to selecting your basics for your wardrobe is to remember the simple question: "Will I wear this piece 3, 5...even 10 years from now?"

The bones of your wardrobe are those essential staples that go with almost anything, never go out of style and are enduringly chic. A blank canvas for you to layer on to. They supersede fads so stay clear of trendy items.

The more you know, the less you need!
