Trend To Try: Leopard

Seeing spots??? Fall's RTW trends think you should!

  • Leopard comes around and stays around. Year after year it keeps prowling it's way onto the fashion runway. Personally, I have countless animal print items in my closet from shoes to coats, and I never seem to tire of this timeless chic pattern.

  • When selecting animal print make your choices based on a pattern & fabric that best resembles the actual animal. Don't go too cheap with leopard print...it's best to not do it if you're not going to do it right.

  • Keep the rest of your outfit basic, classic & simple. Add a bit of roar to a classic LBD or a touch of glam attitude to jeans & a tee.
My picks:

mix with skinny jeans, LBD or even
a LRD (little red dress)

who said leopard is only limited to black & tan
add a punch of color to your suit after work
or pair with a navy dress for lunch

too cute for winter days when the weather is grim
cheer up with these fun gloves
add life to wide leg trousers & a crisp tee

feeling feline and want just a bit of drama
wrap around any basic for some playful roar

accessorize a solid jewel tone dress or give
your basic blazer some structure

these will be your go to travel accessory
when that casual ensemble needs something
these are so cool, pair with skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans,
pencil skirt...animal attraction
these are a must have too...so cute with a
denim dress & comfortable too
  • Get your paws on some leopard print for this season. Whether it's full on or just accessorizing one thing for sure you will be one hip cat!

Trend to Try: Peep Toe Booties

Fendi to Chanel showcased peep toe booties as the must have footwear for fall. Found in unique colors, mixes of materials, wedges to stilettos the peep toe bootie should be on top of your must have list for this upcoming season. Dressy with a bit of edge. Worn well with dresses, skirts, trousers or jeans. It's the boot with a bit of room to breathe!

My picks:

Rocker glam...mix with delicate dresses, skinny jeans or tulip skirts
the shoe brings the edge...make everything else comply

Architectural heel, cut out suede in a luscious black mix with a LBD
or cuffed trousers...show this one off

Only requirement: Confidence
Mix with printed skirts or tuck in skinny jeans

My FAVORITE!! So YSL inspired...but I still love it.
Mix with LBD, frilly skirts, vintage dresses, boyfriend jeans...
virtually everything in the closet

Vintage inspired mix of suede and wedge this boot
looks like it would be so comfortable

It's got it all...cut outs, platform killer heel
Add height to a maxi dress, go long with a mini
Pair this delicate shade of gray with all of your
pastels...which you should still wear in the fall!
Just a touch of peep toe is why I like this boot,
that and the details of belting & wooden heel
Mix with dark skinny jeans, boot cut jeans & anything black

Beach Bound: Chic Cover Up

Oversized sunnies? Check.

Canvas tote? Check.

Sexy suit? Check.

Chic cover up.....

Packing for a getaway to the beach and most of us naturally grab some cutoffs or gym shorts & an old racer back tank.

You put so much effort into selecting the just-right-oh-so-perfect-in-every way-so-my-butt-won't-show-too-much-swimsuit...so why grab an average cover up.

Go glam! Go retro! Go boho!

My selections for a way to add some fabulous to your beautiful beach day:

simple, chic and elegant....cute enough to wear
after the beach with some platform wedge sandals
add a bit of retro flare to your day
& wear your bright suit under this navy cover up

very glamorous with a bohemian vibe
pair with shorts & gladiators after you leave the beach

I love the delicate print of this cover up
pair with a chocolate, orange or red suit

I love the youthful ruffles and strapless look of this cover up
it would allow a pop of color from your suit to show on your shoulders
add more color with some fun flops
  • Add some personality when selecting your cover up. It doesn't have to match your suit...it's actually much better and more interesting if it doesn't.
  • These cover ups will easily take you from sunning on the beach to playing at the club.
  • Pack some cute jewelry in your canvas tote...just in case your sunny day turns into a glamorous night on the beach!

Flat Sandals: the flip flop alternative

Summer is in full swing and knowing most you I can guess your go-to-shoe is probably a pair of Old Navy or Havaianas flops that have been lingering in your closet way past their expiration date!

You take time to select the perfect put together chic little number of a dress, short combo or flirty skirt and daring top only to grab the first thing you see....your comfort level...your good old flops.

Don't get me wrong...I am the first to admit one of my favorite pairs of shoes are Havaianas slim flops in metallic gray.

Step out of the flip flop box and try a few of this season's flat sandals...a perfectly polished alternative!

metallic works with virtually everything in your closet & I particularly love this one with the brassy toe...such a surprise

modern twist on the hurache sandal. love the black leather gives it a bit of rocker edge.

studs are still lingering around this season and this shoe will take you all the way through summer

these are definitely one of my favorites...I actually may have to have these. the metallic grey and lots of metal...satisfies my cravings!

summer is the perfect time to add color into your wardrobe & if you are like me and don't wear much color...accessories & footwear are the way to go!

red...who doesn't love a red shoe! it's that pop of color that you need with a basic dress.

I love the strappy look with studs...very feminine with a rough edge
(I own these...and yes...they are fabulous)

it's so hard to find a great dark brown sandal, so when I found this one I had to share.
it's the perfect mix of bohemian & chic.
flat sandals aren't sexy??? this screams femme fatal...love the little bow.
Chinese Laundry Suduko $70.00

I like the gold with tan...very 70s but modern and would look great on the foot.
  • One of the easiest ways to change up an outfit and make it look totally new and different is by changing your accessories. Add a belt, throw on bangles on both arms, carry a clutch during the day or tie on a scarf.
  • OR swap your flops for this season's alternative: Flat Sandals!

Look I'm Loving: Vintage Style Necklaces

Whilst shopping with a friend awhile back we fell head over heels for funky vintage style necklaces. We dove right into LOVE21 (a company owned by online shop Forever21) dug our way through the masses of jewelry and strolled out with several statement pieces to update our wardrobe for major savvy prices!

Being the savvy stylist that scours the net for chic finds to share with my readers the challenge was on. Luckily I stumbled into Shop The Look, an awesome online shop full of fun funky jewelry at of course...savvy prices.

My picks of vintage style necklaces:

glam up a basic white tee to making a statement against a red dress

layers of pearls and gold...killer with a maxi dress or boy meets girl with black leather

too fun...but for more layer it with funky gold chains add bell bottoms & fitted vest

disco diva should meet your boyfriend jeans or a sheer button down

I love this piece...so versatile. It's that piece to add the special touch to that particular outfit you said "just needs something".
  • Jewelry is meant to be fun, an expression of your personality a touch of glam to an otherwise mediocre outfit.
  • Investment pieces should be just that....an investment...something that you will pass down.
  • Trendy pieces come and go. So no need to invest...and hey at these prices even if you only wear them one season you made a wise purchase!

Muse of the Moment: Olivia Palermo

New York socialite and part of reality TV The City, Olivia Palermo is coveted and highly regarded for her effortless chic style making her one of my favorite fashion muses. Her uncanny way of mixing vintage with couture with attainable & affordable pieces such as Steve Madden booties gives her looks such charm, interest and statement worthy notes.

Adorned in statement pieces from necklaces to bags to fur she effortlessly layers the right mix without looking as if she is too put together or trying to hard. Sleek straight hair, natural waves or a taut bun and always flawless make-up give her New York glamour with the charm of a California girl.

Take a cue:

perfect proportions

pop of color, mixed tights with elegant white

at home in her New York apartment in vintage sequin cardigan

school girl charm and still making a statement with necklace & bag

who would have thought dark brown, orange & pale pink would look so great

belted waist coat, white lace & Steve Madden booties

short & long layers

shopping in shorts with simple flats and a statement Birkin

short suit: mixing a print and pop of color

taking a fashion forward leap with harem pants & a pop of color

stark black against delicate pallet

classic and timeless

reworking the Steve Madden booties

tuxedo blazer, pointed toe stilettos & of course a bit glam

lots of layers

going against the norm with a red skirt but mixing her black with a brown clutch

unexpected pop of color

reworking the waist coat

proof that jeans can be glamorous
Take a cue from this muse by mixing a bit of glam with your jeans, pile on some layers, belt a waist coat and add an unexpected color with your accessories. To polish off your effortless style be sure to have fun and always smile!
